Curly Hair Extension Care | Do a reparative treatment with Olaplex No. 0 + Olaplex No. 3

You know the feeling when your hair needs a deep conditioning or a reparative treatment? Your extensions are no different. When it starts to look like the ends are getting a little wild, and the definition just won’t hold - it’s time to up your regimen. Our go-to is the at-home Olaplex treatment featuring No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment and No. 3 Hair Perfector. Why?  The two-step bond-building treatment helps strengthen and preserve your curls in one simple use.

Step 1: Starting with your extensions dry, saturate each weft in Olaplex No. 0. Then set a timer for 10 minutes.

Step 2: At the end of the timer, gently rake Olaplex No. 3 through the strands of each weft. To maximize your treatment gently place the wefts in a ziplock bag or shower cap, and then apply heat. Leave on for at least 10 minutes. This will allow the cuticle to open up, even more, allowing deeper product penetration - and thus better results.

Step 3: Shampoo your extensions. For tips and tricks on how to wash your wefts, check out this video. We used Olaplex No. 4 because it’s super concentrated and a little goes a long way.

Step 4: Condition. Condition. Condition. We all know, curly hair looks its best when conditioned well. We love Olaplex No. 5 because it helps to further repair  damage while adding shine and strengthening the hair. For best results, detangle each of your curly hair extensions with a wide-tooth comb, starting at the ends and working your way up. And as always, work one weft at a time. For an extra boost of conditioning benefits, leave on for a few minutes before rinsing. For more detangling tricks check out this blog post

And voilà! From old to new again:

Curly Hair Extension Care | Styling Curly Hair Extensions with Olaplex

1. To keep the strands of your weft as smooth as possible, we recommend sealing with a cream styler as well as an oil. We love Olaplex No. 6 (like many curly girl favorites it has coconut oil). But our go-to trick is to cocktail it with Olaplex No. 7 (their shine oil) and then apply it to our wefts, raking from top to bottom, one weft at a time.

2. To ensure definition and prolong the hold, finish by styling with your favorite curly hair gel. Check out some of our favorites here.
