How to Use Your Drawstring Ponytail

It’s time to rock your dream pony! Get ready to instantly transform your look.

Check out the video below or scroll down for step by steps.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Your drawstring ponytail
  • A smoothing brush
  • Gel or other firm-hold styler
  • Hair elastics or bungees
  • Bobbypins

Note: Before you begin you should wash and set your ponytail (check out this guide to learn how). Your extension piece must be dry before you begin!

Step 1: Secure your natural hair

The first thing you want to do is smooth your hair back and into a bun. For an even finish we recommend using a smoothing brush with soft bristles. To avoid flyaways use a gel or other styling product to give your curls a firm hold.

Keep in mind where you position your hair is where the ponytail piece will sit. Use an elastic band or bungee tie to secure your hair into a ponytail. Wrap the hair around the base of the ponytail to make a bun. Secure in place with bobby pins, or another elastic if necessary.

Step 2: Place the Ponytail

Place the drawstring ponytail over your bun, securing it in place with the attached comb. Then pull the drawstrings on the ponytail until you have a tight fit over your bun. The drawstring ponytail should completely cover your bun.

Step 3: Secure the drawstrings.

Wrap the drawstrings around the base of the ponytail and secure in place with bobby pins. To hide the strings even more, take a curl from the ponytail and wrap it around the base of the drawstring pony, securing in place with a bobby pin. Then freely rock your pony (and don’t be afraid to put some swing in your step - that pony is safe, secure, and not going anywhere).
